The play and waiting room

A consultation that begins before the examination.

A child walking into a medical practice does not have an adult’s bearings. They look around, hesitate, sometimes feel wary. Giving them that time is not time lost: everything that follows is easier for them, for you and for the doctor.

Here, your child first discovers the room at their own pace. We speak to them, in words suited to their age, before speaking about them. The examination comes next, explained step by step.

  • Listen.
  • Reassure.
  • Understand.
  • Care.

About

I am a pediatrician in Fès. I see newborns, children and teenagers by appointment at Clinique Avicenne, and I am a co-founder of the clinic’s neonatology department.

Every child is different. During the consultation I speak to the child first, then explain to the parents what I find and what I recommend.

Reasons to consult

The reasons for consultation offered at the practice, from birth to adolescence.

  • Newborn consultation

The first weeks: feeding, sleep, growth, and every question new parents have.

  • Child medicine

Regular check-ups, fevers, common infections, and advice to support your child’s development.

  • Pediatric pulmonology

Cough, wheezing, asthma: a specialist’s eye, backed by a university diploma in asthmology.

  • Vaccination

Follow-up of the vaccination schedule and answers to your questions before and after each vaccine.

  • Other common childhood illnesses

Recognising the illness, soothing your child and knowing when to come back.

How a consultation unfolds

From the entrance to the exit, this is how a consultation goes.

  1. Step 1 : Arrive

Your child steps into a place designed for them: soft colours, rounded shapes, toys within reach.

  2. Step 2 : Get familiar

They look around, touch, play. Nobody rushes them: they find their bearings at their own pace, with parents beside them.

  3. Step 3 : Talk

We speak to the child first, then to the parents. The words change with age, and every question is welcome.

  4. Step 4 : Examine

The examination is gentle, with each step explained, so your child knows what is about to happen.
